Check out the new links in my sidebar. I’ve been shopping for some new Vegan links so I can drool over food porn, you know, as a little “hobby”. I found some really great blogs that I’ve been enjoying digging into. Now if I could just get some of that amazing food onto my own table.

Actually I have been trying some great new things lately. I’ve now forced my husband and my 70+ year old Mother to be huge fans of my butternut squash fries, so, mission accomplished on that front. Last night I was wanting to make asparagus, and I swear, my Mom rummaged around and found this pot:

Who knew such pots even existed? She found it at a yard sale for a couple of bucks years ago. It has a little screen type insert inside, with a little handle so you can easily remove the vegetables when they’re done steaming. What a cool thing!

Last night I also made Falafel, from a mix that I buy at my favorite store in Seattle, PCC Natural Market.

I tried baking some and frying some because my Mom was SHOCKED that I was baking some. She pulled out her deep fryer, post haste. They were both good but I prefer the baked, for obvious health reasons. We dipped them in a little catsup and Veganise which I just LOVE.

In other news, I may or may not be sick. I haven’t been sick for at least 5 years, not even a cold, but my upset stomach that has been present since the dentist shot me up with novicane yesterday for my $1000 root canal, has now been joined by accompanying chills and an inability to sleep, which is why at 4:30 a.m. I can say I’ve already been up for an hour and a half. Sigh.

I’m not sure what’s going on but later today my younger sister, the school teacher, who is my best friend, is going to “teach Algebra” to my insanely crazy older sister at my Mom’s dining room table and I’m not sure I want to be around to see it. If I’m lucky, I’ll have to spend the day in bed.
